New Aeris Mako Fin now available July 12, 2006

Aeris dealers have apparently been anxiously waiting for this fin to be officially released. Aeris sent all of their dealers a pre-production sample and they were enthusiastically received. The fin looks very similar to the popular Mares Avanti fin, especially with the large blade. These are some of the main features, from the press release;
* While they feature an oversized blade, the MAKO is lighter-weight than any comparable open-heel fin on the market. The high efficiency, maneuverability and lighter-weight make the MAKO a great fin for everyone’s needs.
* The MAKO offers one of the best profit margins, if not the best, on the market.
* The foot pockets are sized to accommodate dry suit boots and boots with more pronounced soles, as well as standard molded sole boots.
As consumers we don’t really care about profit margins, but the retail price of these fins is $89.95, which is very reasonable. I would be looking to see whether the combination of the lightweight structure and the oversized blade creates a fin which bends a little too much in the water though.
